Program Overview

The Manufacturing Leadership Certification Course empowers leaders and delivers balanced and blended learning in self-assessment and analysis, situational analytical skills and organizational change management skills, presentation skill development and imparts important perspectives on how to develop innovation in both people and companies.

The course delivers cutting edge information in leadership, communication, change management, conflict management, team building and coaching in the manufacturing industry. The course is designed to help professionals emerge with a leadership mindset.  The course builds strategic skills in leaders that helps their organizations sustain a competitive advantage while helping them to personally and realize their true leadership potential.

The program is designed for students to learn the theory and practical applications of leadership and related communication skills. With this knowledge the student will be able to work more effectively as a professional in their current and future employment.

Course Module Information

Module 1 Leadership Essentials in Manufacturing

The first step to improved leadership development skills is for the leader to accept and take responsibility for their personal own growth and development as a leader. But where do they start?

This lesson instructs leaders so they can understand the importance of self-awareness as it relates to leadership. The lesson builds skills in self-reflection, self-assessment and self-analysis and builds an ability in people to self-manage their leadership skills to deal with emotions, conflict, communication and thinking.

The Lesson focuses on four core elements of self-leadership management – emotional intelligence, self-reflection, thinking strategies and personal action. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of their skill levels in each of these areas and gain practical skills to use in the workplace and in their personal lives.

Module 2 Leading Change in Canadian Manufacturing

Participants gain a clear understanding of the rapid change Canadian Manufacturing is experiencing currently and explore how change impacts people and organizations. Leaders learn how they can both influence and manage organizational and personal change.

Participants also learn about how to deal with and manage change issues like organizational growth, economic issues, people change issues and learn to assess the organization’s readiness for change, create a vision for strategic change, develop and prioritize change strategies and objectives analyze risk and overcome resistance.  

The lesson also explores the concepts of strategic planning, its purpose and role in change. The course helps leaders learn a systematic approach to managing change though strategic planning, understand the conditions necessary for its successful application, and learn how to successfully engineer the transition from design to execution.

Module 3 Communication and Conflict Management

This course is for manufacturing leaders (who interact with people constantly) so they can develop an inspirational leadership presence by learning how to project themselves and communicate more effectively. It will explore the presentation skills it takes for manufacturing leaders to step confidently onto any stage and hold the room with an unmistakable presence that distinguishes you as a seasoned speaker and strong leader. The lesson also teaches the essentials of resolving conflict in a manufacturing environment.

The course is a hands-on highly interactive exploration of skills that will give participants the knowledge and skills to use the connection between leadership and communication.

Module 4 Coaching and Building High-Performance Teams

To teach leaders to utilizing coaching strategies so they can effectively build highly performance teams so departments can perform at their best.

Module 5 Situational Leadership in Manufacturing

The objective of teaching situational leadership in manufacturing is to equip leaders with the tools, tactics and techniques necessary to skillfully navigate the demands of complex manufacturing leadership situations on a day to day, moment by moment basis using an increasingly diverse workforce and dealing with evolving organizational demands.

This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. As such, PTIB did not review this program
